Waiting for Spring
Yes, I am waiting for spring. It seems as though winter is lasting forever and I just want to see some green poking through the ground!!
This weeks sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to at least pretend that spring is here !!
Now, when I saw this sketch, I knew just the die cut I wanted to use. I met a lady at a local craft sale at the beginning of Dec. We had a great chat, and realized we shared several of the same interests. A few days later, this lady called me and said I have a little die cut here that I have two of, and thought you would be the perfect person to give the extra one to, as I know you would use it. How right she was !! I love it. It is called Prim Poppy, from memory box inc.
Of course , my next decision was what to use for my paper. I LOVED every paper pack from Close To My Heart and ordered every single one !!! LOL (now keep that between you and me...........). I looked at them all, still in thier pkg, and decide to open up Ivy Lane. Oh my word !!! I wanted to use every single piece of paper in there, but I think it may have been a little too much . Decisions, decisions !! I finally decide that the beautiful paper with the writing on it was the one. I used Ivy Lane Purple to back it ( it really is a luscious eggplant color). The die cut was cut three times. Once in Hollyhock, and twice in the Ivy Lane Green.
I layered the green, cut the flowers from hollyhock, and glued them in place , using the bonding memories glue pen from CTMH. Great for gluing those tiny items and does not leave any extra residue that using the Xyron does. The poppy was layered onto white daisy, then ivy lane grren, then hollyhock, then used dimensional to pop it up. I used Smokey Plum to ink the white card stock, as well as the outside edge of the card. Close To My Heart printed card stock always comes with a 1/2 in extra edge that has a coordinating design on it. That is what I used under the flower layers, to pull the colors all together.
This card , once I decided on my paper took less than 15mins to pull together. Now, I did not follow my own advice and make good use of all my little bits and pieces, but a girl has to try new things ! It's a rule !!
