Atlantic Heart Sketch # 13

Well here we are once again, wondering how it could be week 13 already over at Atlantic Hearts. This week I thought I would step outside my comfort zone, because is that not what a challenge is all about?? I was given a sanding kit by my pseudo daughter-in-law a few years ago and I am ashamed to say, I have never used it. I guess I just never thought it was something I would like.I crept out on that proverbial limb, and I have to say I am very pleased with my project this week. Not  because it is  the best you will see, but because it is stepping outside the box for me.
My card is 5 x 7, and I used the color Champagne . My layers in order from there are,Saddle, Creme Brulee, a print from the paper pack  Clementine, and the last Champagne again. I took all but the top layer, and sanded them well around all the edges. The top layer(champagne) I ripped across the top, then sanded very well. I then spritz this piece with water to dampen and scrunched it up to make it very wrinkled. When it was dry, I stamped  my sentiment from a stamp set called "Find Your Style". The ribbons were a salvage that I  pulled out of my bottomless ribbon container, and the flower came from Creative Memories( so sad to see them go ). The water drops I purchased on line from Miriam's Crafting Supplies. I  loved them so much, I got a pkg of every color as well as some hat pins.

All of the card stock, print paper pack, stamp set, and the sanding kit can be purchased from Close To My Heart on my website or from me personally. Hope you like this little card, and remember, make good use of all your little bis and pieces.

  1. I love the overall card, but the details make this one great...the flower, the ribbons, the sanding....I could go on. Great card!

  2. Barb, this is a warm card. It brings me peace. I have to remember to try a whole piece of crinkled paper.

  4. Your venture into distress-land really paid off! Love how it gives such dimension and character to the card. The top layer almost looks like parchment. Yummy ribbon and flower, too.
