Stretch Card

This lovely gem has a lot of steps, but is so worth the effort for someone special !!I saw this card on Scrabooking 24/7. I followed the link, but could not find any instructions ,so I had to go it alone. There may be an easier  way, but this is what I have come up with.

You will find it easiest to make all your cuts first. This is what you will need :
For your Base Color ( I used Colonial White - CTMH)
2  at 11" x 6"
1   at 5" x 7"
1  at 11" x 2 1/2" (for band)
For your Contrast Color (I used Cocoa-CTMH)
1 at 4 3/4" x 6 3/4"
2 at 2" x 4 3/4"
2 at  2" x 4 "
2  at 2" x 3 1/4"
2 at 2 x 2 1/2"
1 at 11" x 2 " (for band)
For Your Print ( I used a print from the Buzz and Bumble Pack-CTMH)
1 at 4 1/2" x 6 1/2 "
2 at 1 1/2" x 4 1/4"
2 at 1 1/2 x 3 1/2"
2 at 1 1/2 x 2 3/4"
2 at 1 1/2 x 2"

Let's get started:

Mark the 11" x 6" pieces at the 3" mark on one of the 6" ends, then cut diagonally (keep  1 of the cut out pieces for a guide to cut your angles.Score each piece, starting at the narrowest end, at 2.5",5',7.5',and 10".

.
Next, punch the angled edge with your favorite border punch, make sure
you fold your score lines first to make it easier to fold after punching.

You will now need to cut the angle on each of the 2" strips, and the 1 1/2" strips( do NOT cut the ones for the band). To do this and maintain the integrity of the angle, use the guide piece you saved from your first cut. Place the longest edge of the guide on the left side of each strip tip to tip and mark angle. Make sure ONE set of print paper is turned over so you have right and left pieces.

Fold the card so you can have a visual of how they should go together(no need for paper clips, I did this so they would stay down while I photographed them).

Oops. took this pic before I border punched !!

Now it is time to assemble our pieces. Adhere all print pieces to your contrast pieces, then adhere these to your main angled  pieces, as follows: Starting at the shorest end. and the shortest piece, adhere one to the first space, and then the third space for the front, and then 2nd space and 4th space for the back.

Lining the folded edge of your last fold (which should be 1" wide to your 5 x 7 base) adhere in place
Add your contrast piece of 4 3/4 x 6 3/4, then your print piece of  4 1/2" x 6 1/2" to the inside of the card. Once you card is constructed, the insert for your verse or sentiment will depend on what you want to put in there.
I have left mine blank for a personal note, so I cut the cocoa at 4.5"x4.5" and the colonial at 4"x4".
To make the band , simply adhere the contrast color to your main color, and wrap around card, and adhere the overlapped edge. Do not do this too tightly, as you want it to slide off easily.  The decorating of this card can be left up to you. If you like the rose on this one, there is a tutorial on one of my earlier blogs.

I know this seems like a lot, but if you do your cuts first, the assembly does not take very long. Hope you try this.

Here is another you may like.

I was unable to figure out how to get any of the pics side by side !!!   LOL ( I am new at this)
